Hi all, a year ago we started building the new site and in the end of June we launched the new site. At that time the site had still some bugs and not all functionality was available we have today. In the period after the launch till now we worked hard to, solve the bugs, improve the site and build a lot of new features like several search functions (equipments, spot, ranking and sessions) and build several statistics. I want to thank everybody for their patients and good feedback.

 

After every new site build I think I’m finished but after some day’s I get new ideas and start building again. I’m really wondering if the new features cover your needs and if we forgot something. For the coming weeks I have the following features on my list:

 

-          Full Month ranking (not only the best 10)

o   Per country

o   Per spot

o   Per sex

o   Per Age Class

o   Per Weight Class

-          Evaluated month ranking

o   Based on your monthly position you get point and that will be reflected in a year based evaluated ranking.

o   The same search criteria can be used as above for the month ranking

-          Possibility to save ranking searches

o   I’ll create a possibility to save some (5 max) ranking search criteria and show these and the results on a personal page.

-          Distance ranking: waiting for the tech group to finalize the calculation method.

 

What do YOU want? I’m really interested in your needs to make the site better. Give me your needs and I’ll try to build it in the coming months.

Hi Dylan, Just wondered if it's possible to display PRs (as shown in the MY RANKINGS ALL TIME BOX)  but for individual spots, this would make it easier for checking PRs and comparing spots.

Dylan, als die maandelijkse puntentelling er komt is het wel goed dat je nog even checkt dat de data betrouwbaar is. Het valt me nu op dat oude data met snellere tjden in de maandranking wordt herschreven door nieuwe data met langzamere snelheden. De maandstatistieken zijn erg leuk, maar het moet wel kloppen.
First of all my compliments for all the good work! Good to see you still want to improve the site by asking for input. Good question also "what do YOU want?" ;-)

To keep this large user group of speedsurfers and possibly attract a whole new group of surfers GP3S could broaden its focus and explore other areas. 

Some ideas I am thinking about:
- upload track option with:
    - display of track with google maps/earth overlay (embedded)
    - auto calculate results
- adding the following optional information to a session:
   - start time and end time
   - duration 
   - basic trimsettings (mastbase, downhaul, outhaul, boomheight)

I know some of this is already available elsewhere (e.g. ka72, mytrims) but not in one integrated website with such a large user group like GP3S.
This could open up GPS surfing for surfers not aiming only on speed but also on what route travelled, what duration, what distance. Also slalom and long distance sessions could be shared like this.

Just my thoughts and keep up the good work!

P.S. I agree with Geert and I also like the new layout of the test site!
I would like the possibility of direct printing of data, such as after a search. Now we have to help ourselves with print screens.
Printing is possible from your browser or is this not what you want? Instead of direct printing maybe an export to Excel is easier to implement and you can make your own layout afterwards.
It would be good to be able to search sessions for a particular board. e.g.Fanatic Falcon 90 . Then I would know its top speed  and how I compare to others using same.

What's the story with the Alpha rankings?  Nothing has been updated and alpha PBs do not show up in the PB list.
It would be nice to see rankings per spot, like "who is the fastest etc. on spot <fill in>"?

Here some ideas of mine, just for formula.
It would be nice to have a complete Formula ranking, not only based on the 5x 10sec average.
So with your best Nautical, Alpha, 100m etc... a filter would be nice but only a totaal off the best speeds is fine for now (-;

What are the rules for the formula ranking? is only the width of the board required or also the fin and sail size?

Maybe a diffrence between slalom/speed/formula in the spot ranking per day?

For sale . Onder forum een te koop/for sale speedspul. Je ziet vaak mensen wat aanbieden op het forum. Maar dan ook alleen maar slalom of speedsurfspul of wat maar te maken heeft met speed.
Here are a few bugs, i've noticed:

  • In the myspots->Netherlands->Oolderplas->Spot statistieken naar deelnemers the data is not correct. Maarten is displayed three times here. This seems to occur now and then.
  • The pagination for example in this topic is not correct. There's always a page extra which has no content. At this moment it's page 4!
  • The 'more-link' in the "GPS top10 2009" is not correct and doesn't display more data but different data.
Bij zoeken in materiaal:
Wanneer je data zoekt en een bepaalde spot in een bepaald land selecteert, krijgt men enkel riders met de nationaliteit van dat land.
Ik wil alle data zien ook van diegene met een andere nationaliteit, kan dat?

Als je zoekt met materiaal functie
Loop je zeer vaak tegen dubbele dingen aan met het zoeken naar board of zeilen
Ik snap wel dat dit komt omdat er mensen zijn die board en zeilen opnieuw aanmaken terwijl ze al in de lijst staan.

Ik snap dat het veel werk is om dit te herstellen, dus dat vraag ik ook niet:P

Maar als we hier vanaf nu met z´n allen een beetje op letten.
Dus eerst goed kijken of het board of zeil dat je wil toevoegen al in de lijst staat.......
Dan moet het toch haalbare kaart zijn het vanaf nu gewoon goed te doen :)


Verder zou ik het wel leuk vinden :

1. Dat je kan achterhalen hoeveel KM je per zeil en board (en giek) gevaren hebt.

2. Toevoeging van de tijd wanneer je gevaren hebt op de dag.

3. Toevoeging van de windrichting (zichtbaar :P) (zijn jullie al mee bezig dacht ik :) )

4. Toevoeging merk en type giek en mast (want dat zijn eigenlijk dingen die nooit zichtbaar zijn.)

5. Misschien is het ook wel makkelijk om iets van je afstellingen toe te kunnen voegen als je je sessie post, niet verplicht maar optie.
Leuk/makkelijk voor jezelf om bij te houden om zo beter de perfecte afstellingen van je materiaal te achterhalen maar miss ook leuk om te zien voor een ander.

Ik merk aan mezelf dat het surfen de ene keer gewoon lekkerder loopt dan de andere,
maar ja dan moet je ook gelijk alles bij gaan houden......

Ik zit voor mezelf echt te denken van elke sessie deze afstellingen te noteren:
1. Mastvoet positie.
2. Verlenging.
3. Ruimte tussen katrol en verlenger.
4. Giekhoogte.
5. Lengte trapezetouwtjes +/-

De giek afstellingen vind ik minder belangrijk het zeil ligt bij mij bijna altijd tussen de 5 en 25cm tegen de giek aan.

Ik heb de rolmaat al in de auto liggen maar ben er nog niet mee begonnen

En mischien een catamaran ranking :)
Nee geintje maar als het doorgaat zaterdag gaan we zeker de speed ff teste :P

Maybe it is handy for us to have something like a changelog so we can follow the changes and don't have to ask for things you already did.

A for sale section in the forum would be great as i am sure we all have kit for sale.

Also it would be great to see a longboard ranking as i am hoping to get out on my longboard soon and see how fast it is

  • A bit more space in profile for sponsors would be nice
  • Maybe even a possibility to make a link per sponsor like <a href=...etc...
  • When looking into a rider his or her sessions it would be nice if you could get from there via a link to the dayranking
  • I had to choose between 3 board for my 'new' Fanatic Falcon 91, it should be one?

Het valt me op dat er een heleboel pr lijsten incompleet zijn viel me bij anderen al op en bij mij ontbreekt bv de 100 meter en alpha en als ik bij mijn gps kijk bij mijn prs en bij mijn prs 2009 ontbreken er ook tijden .

Zou je hier wat aan kunnen doen .

I think it's cool to see dayrankings when several have been posted. So my question is .. Is it possible to have a list on the first page of dayrankings containing more than 8-10 sessions?
Always cool to read about "bigdays" around the globe and it is so easy to miss them.

It would be great if we could see the latest sessions by our friends.

If we can permanently save a list of friends then it would be feasible to automatically show a list of recent sessions by them. This could be similar to the "latest sessions" on the right of the page, giving high visibilty of our what our friends have been up to without looking at their profiles individually.

Using the same friend list, custom searches could also be added so that rankings could be produced for different speed types, etc.

Would it be possible to add the Country Flag for the spot under forum>day rankings. It would make it a little easier to find various spots more quickly.

De top 3 Gevaren kilometers 2009 is ook niet echt kloppend.

1. Mark Baakman een sessie van bijna 2000km een sessie van een dikke 4831km
2. Bernard Gijzen een sessie 6250km
3. Adam Bakker een sessie van 5855km
Is het mogelijk dat het volgende er komt:

Als ik naar mijn, of van iemand anders, sessie databank ga, kan ik van daaruit niet naar de dagranking van die dag. Dat kan wel via "latest sessions" maar daar worden alleen maar de sessies van de afgelopen 2 dagen weergegeven.

Het zou erg handig zijn om vanuit een oude sessie direct op de dagranking van die dag te kunnen klikken.

Verder alles super!
In aanvulling op de posting van Marco Vegelien, klopt de afstand van Hans Kreisel ook niet, die heeft op 30 april 2009 een afstand gepost van 1186km.

Misschien een idee voor verbetering van de site, dat een afstand > 400km, niet gepost kan worden, tenzij je dat natuurlijk daadwerkelijk hebt gevaren. In dat geval is het misschien goed je track gewoon te mailen aan de timekeeper ter verificatie.

Ten eerste vind ik het van Marco Bal ook een goede!!
Gewoon niet uitmakend naar wat voor sessie je kijkt dat je altijd de dagranking kunt aanklikken.

Verder een split in de materiaal
In eigen en Leen/test materiaal (vinnen boards zeilen)
Zodat het zichtbaar is welke vin hij/zij een keer getest/geprobeerd heeft en wat eigen is.

En een vin beoordelings systeem zou ik persoonlijk ook een goede optie vinden

Bijvoorbeeld als een:

75 avg plusser 5 sessies
70 avg plusser 10 sessies
65 avg plusser 20 sessies
60 avg plusser 30 sessies
55 avg plusser 40 sessies
50 avg plusser 50 sessies

Met een vin gevaren heeft dat ie automatisch
een beoordeling voor zich krijgt die hij/zij mag/kan
invullen
